China’s annual gross domestic product (GDP) growth is expected to slow down in 2025, with economists forecasting a decrease to 4.4%, according to a recent survey by Nikkei Asia. The downward trend is attributed to the threat of tariffs by US President-elect Donald Trump and ongoing property turmoil, which is affecting domestic consumption.
The GDP forecast was revised downward by 0.1 percentage points from September, with projections for 2026 also showing a similar decline, expected to reach 4.1%. The slowdown in China’s economic growth is a concern for global investors and policymakers, who are closely watching the country’s development trajectory.
