In response to US President Donald Trump’s 10% tariffs on Chinese goods, Beijing has announced retaliatory measures. Starting Monday, China will impose a 15% tariff on US coal and liquefied natural gas imports. Additionally, the country will also slap a 10% tariff on other products including crude oil, agricultural machinery, and pickup trucks.
The move comes as US President Trump is expected to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping “in the next couple of days”, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. The Chinese government has expressed its opposition to the US practice, urging the country to correct its wrong practices immediately.
