China-Owned Supertankers Face Hefty Fees Under US Proposal

A new proposal from the US aims to penalize China-made oil supertankers, imposing significant fees on their visits to American ports. According to estimates by research firm Arrow Shipbroking Group, ships manufactured in China and operated by non-Chinese owners could be charged around $1.9 million upon arrival at a US port. However, for China-owned or -operated vessels, the fee would increase to nearly $5.2 million. This new rule is part of the ongoing trade tensions between the US and China, aimed at punishing ships that benefit from Chinese manufacturing.
