China is willing to participate in Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction efforts. According to Li Ming, a spokesman for the China International Development Cooperation Agency, Beijing will help “in accordance with the wishes of the parties.” This announcement comes after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed hope that China could assist in restoring peace and rebuilding the country. The estimated cost of recovery and reconstruction in Ukraine over the next decade is US$524 billion. So far, Kyiv has received US$13 billion in aid from international partners and the private sector, with more funding needed to support the country’s rebuilding efforts.
