China Supports Russia-US Talks on Ukraine War Amid Criticism of Zelenskyy

China’s foreign minister Wang Yi expressed support for Donald Trump’s bid to work with Russia to end the war in Ukraine, saying Beijing backs efforts conducive to peace. In a statement, Wang stated that he is willing to continue playing a constructive role in the political resolution of the crisis.

However, US President Donald Trump’s stance on Ukraine has sparked criticism from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his allies. Musk launched a tirade against Zelenskyy, claiming the president is “despised” by the people of Ukraine and would lose an election if the country held one.

Zelenskyy expressed hope after meeting with the US special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg. He said he is ready to work quickly to produce a strong agreement on investments and security with the US.

The Trump administration’s stance on Ukraine has led to a flurry of diplomatic activity, including meetings between high-ranking officials from the US, Russia, and other countries. French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have all expressed support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and security.

Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi praised the “consensus” reached between Moscow and Washington without involving Ukraine. However, his comments did not address concerns about Russia’s actions in Ukraine.

The international community is divided on how to approach the conflict in Ukraine. While some countries, like China, support efforts to resolve the crisis through dialogue, others, such as the UK, are emphasizing the need for a united stance against Russian aggression.

As tensions continue to rise, diplomats and leaders from around the world are calling for restraint and cooperation to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine.
