China has unveiled a groundbreaking brain-like computer called Darwin Monkey, developed by the national key lab of brain intelligence at Zhejiang University. The computer mimics the workings of a macaque monkey’s brain and features 960 Darwin 3 chips that support over 2 billion neurons and 100 billion synapses.
With an impressive power consumption of approximately 2,000 watts, the Darwin Monkey can perform advanced tasks such as logical reasoning, content generation, and mathematical problem-solving. The computer has also been successfully deployed with intelligent applications that can simulate animal brains of varying neuron sizes, including those of macaques, mice, zebrafish, and elegans.
This innovative technology offers new possibilities for brain science research and represents a significant step forward in the development of brain-like computers.
