China’s Shenzhou-19 crew has been conducting various experiments on the orbiting Tiangong space station since January 2025. The astronauts have tested a pipeline inspection robot, validating key technologies for automated inspections.
The experiment demonstrated the robot’s design capabilities and motion control in complex environments. Meanwhile, the crew has been conducting space medicine experiments using electroencephalography equipment to study the effects of gravity on visual processing, brainwave music intervention, and sleep quality.
Additionally, the astronauts have worn devices to track their movements and heart rates, as well as filled out surveys to explore how the space environment impacts human circadian rhythms. The crew has also conducted a system-wide pressure emergency drill, improving their skills in dealing with emergencies and enhancing coordination between ground teams.
The Tiangong space station, launched on October 30 last year, is home to three astronauts, Cai Xuzhe, Song Lingdong, and Wang Haoze, for a six-month mission.
