The China National Space Administration (CNSA) has released breathtaking images of Earth and the moon taken by its Tianwen 2 spacecraft. Launched on May 29, the probe is now 12 million kilometers away from Earth, having spent over 33 days in space.
The images were captured using the ANAC navigation sensor when the spacecraft was about 590,000 kilometers away from our planet. The mission aims to collect samples from the near-Earth asteroid 2016 HO3 and explore the main-belt comet 311P.
The Tianwen-2 mission is expected to last around 10 years and will return samples to Earth by November 2027. The probe will visit the asteroid and comet, providing scientists with insights into the solar system’s early formation and evolution.
This successful mission is part of China’s ambitious “space dream” to send Chinese astronauts to the moon before 2030 and establish a permanent base there.
