CMC Pictures announced that the Chinese animation “Ne Zha 2” has reached a milestone, surpassing 100 million yuan (approximately $13.8 million) in overseas box office revenue. Released in North America with its widest release ever at 945 theaters, the film broke records for pre-sale tickets and screening numbers.
At its opening weekend, “Ne Zha 2” grossed an estimated $7.21 million, ranking among the top five North American weekend box office rankings. This achievement also marks the highest opening weekend performance for a Chinese domestic film in the region in recent years.
Directed by Yang Yu, “Ne Zha 2” continues the story of its characters as they face challenges and adversaries. The film’s stunning animation and thrilling plots have impressed audiences worldwide. Notably, it surpassed Pixar’s blockbuster “Inside Out 2” to become the world’s highest-grossing animated film of all time.
