Chomps, a popular protein snack brand, has issued a voluntary recall of its Original Beef and Original Turkey sticks due to potential contamination with metal fragments. The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has confirmed that the affected products were shipped to retailers in California and Illinois.
A total of 30,000 pounds of beef sticks, including individual sticks and pouches, have been included in the recall. The recalled products were produced between January 13 and January 15 and packaged between January 16 and January 23. Customers can check their pantries for any products with specific identifying information to see if they are part of the recall.
The recall is considered “Class I,” meaning there is a reasonable probability that use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death. However, no injuries or adverse health issues have been reported so far.
Customers who have purchased potentially contaminated Chomps sticks should discard the product or return it to where it was purchased for a refund. The company has received two complaints from consumers who found metal fragments in their products and is taking the recall out of “an abundance of caution.”
It’s essential to check your pantry for any recalled Chomps products, as they may still be sitting there due to their long shelf life. If you have purchased potentially contaminated products, call 855-636-1150 or contact Chomps via online chat for assistance.
