Singer Chris Brown was denied bail during a court hearing for his assault charge in Manchester, England. He was taken into custody after being arrested at his hotel and charged with “inflicting grievous bodily harm.” The alleged incident occurred at Tape nightclub in Central London in February 2023.
Prosecutor Hannah Nicholls stated that Brown attacked producer-promoter Abraham Diaw with a weapon, causing harm to several people present. Judge Joanne Hirst remanded Brown into custody until his next court date on June 13 at Southwark Crown Court.
Diaw has accused Brown of smashing him with a bottle and kicking him at the nightclub. He has filed a civil complaint for $16 million, seeking damages for injuries and losses resulting from the alleged altercation. The incident has put Brown’s Breezy Bowl XX tour in jeopardy, which is scheduled to start in Europe on June 8.
