Chrome Introduces Easy Unsubscribe Option and Improved Safety Check

Google Chrome has introduced a solution to the problem of annoying website notifications. The browser now allows users to easily unsubscribe from notifications directly in the notification itself. This feature is initially available on Pixel devices, but will be rolled out to other Android devices soon.

When you receive a notification from a website, you’ll see an “Unsubscribe” option that lets you opt-out of future notifications from that site. While this might take some time to go through all the unwanted notifications one by one, there’s also an “Undo” feature in case you accidentally unsubscribe and want to restore the original settings.

In addition to the instant unsubscribe option, Chrome is also getting an improved Safety Check. This feature will run automatically in the background, revoking notification permissions from sites that Google Safe Browsing identifies as deceiving users into granting permission. The Safety Check will inform you of its actions, such as revoking permissions from sites you no longer visit, flagging unwanted notifications, and alerting you to security issues that require attention.

Chrome is also introducing a one-time access option for permissions like camera and microphone access. When you grant these permissions, they’ll be revoked once you leave the site, and the site won’t be able to use them until you explicitly grant permission again.
