A cinema in Cannock, Staffordshire, has banned under-18s from attending evening showings of the movie “A Minecraft Movie” without an adult due to reports of rowdy behavior. The Electric Palace Picture House has set a 6pm cutoff for child-free screenings.
The ban comes after viral social media trends encouraged audience members to cheer, shout iconic lines, and throw popcorn during screenings. The cinema warned that anyone caught recording or disrupting showings would face ejection without a refund.
This decision follows reports of “disturbances” over the weekend, which led to a warning from the UK Cinema Association. While the behavior was largely good-natured, fans were urged to be mindful of others’ enjoyment.
The move is part of a growing trend in cinemas banning rowdy behavior, including incidents with the Chicken Jockey, another TikTok trend that has seen some audience members shouting and throwing popcorn.
