Cinemas Struggle to Lure Audiences Despite New Releases

The US box office saw a disappointing weekend, with only $52 million in total gross sales – the lowest for the year so far. Five new films were released, but none of them managed to surpass $10 million at the box office. Only one film, “Novocaine”, came close, earning $8.5 million. The poor performance raises hopes that a big-budget tentpole film, “Snow White”, will draw audiences back to cinemas next week. Meanwhile, many returning films struggled, with some dropping significantly in sales, such as “Mickey 17” which is set for digital streaming on March 25th.
