Citigroup Ditches Diversity Initiatives Amid Trump’s Corporate Climate Shift

Citigroup has announced it will no longer require diverse candidates for job interviews, a shift that comes as the US corporate sector grapples with a changing business climate under President Donald Trump. CEO Jane Fraser cited the need to adapt to an “environment where things are changing quickly” in her memo.

The bank’s decision follows similar moves by other major companies, including Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase, which have scaled back their diversity commitments in response to Trump’s policies. Citigroup will also change its team name from “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Talent Management” to simply “Talent Management and Engagement”.

Trump has been critical of DEI programs, and some companies are feeling pressure from conservative groups to scale back their diversity initiatives. However, Citigroup says it will still prioritize having a diverse range of perspectives in its hiring decisions.
