Civilization 7 VR Arrives Spring 2025 Exclusively on Meta Quest 3/3S

Firaxis has announced a virtual reality version of Sid Meier’s Civilization 7, titled “Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 – VR”. The game will launch in spring 2025 exclusively on the Meta Quest 3 and 3S.

Developed by PlaySide Studios, Civilization 7 – VR brings the world of Civilization to life like never before. Players can engage with iconic world leaders around a Command Table, forging alliances or declaring war through the Ages. The game also features immersive virtual reality mode, where players are transported to an ornate museum, and mixed reality mode, which adapts to the player’s physical space.

Civilization 7 – VR is available in single-player and online multiplayer modes with up to three other players. The game includes features such as detailed dioramas, a room dedicated to gameplay achievements, and improvements made based on feedback from fans who expressed issues with the user interface and lack of map variety.

The announcement comes after Firaxis addressed concerns about Civilization 7’s launch, including UI improvements, cooperative multiplayer, and expanded map types. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged that some critics were negative in their reviews but believes that the “legacy Civ audience” will come to appreciate the game as they play it more.

The VR version of Civilization 7 is expected to build upon the foundation laid by the PC and console versions, which have received mixed reviews.
