Clemson swept the series 3-0, beating South Carolina 8-2 at Founders Park on Sunday. The Tigers’ Justin LeGuernic and Joe Allen both threw six strikeouts in the game, with Allen earning the win by pitching scoreless relief innings. Clemson improved to 10-1, while South Carolina dropped to 9-3.
The Tigers scored their first run of the game on Jarren Purify’s single in the fifth inning. Later, Collin Priest hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning to put Clemson ahead 4-0. The Gamecocks scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth, but the Tigers tacked on four runs in the ninth inning.
Ethan Darden was named Clemson’s MVP of the series, while Jake McCoy won the Tom Price Award for South Carolina. The Tigers will travel to Greenville, S.C. to face USC Upstate on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
