Cluely, a Silicon Valley startup, has seen its revenue skyrocket to $7 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) since launching its new enterprise product last week. Founder Roy Lee told TechCrunch that every person who meets or interviews is testing out the product.
The company’s AI-powered platform analyzes online conversations, provides real-time notes, and suggests questions to ask, offering context that is invisible to others. This has sparked interest from both consumers and businesses alike.
Cluely was born from controversy when Lee posted about being suspended by Columbia University for developing a tool to cheat on job interviews. However, he turned this into an opportunity to create a product that helps people “cheat” in a more positive way. The startup is now backed by top VCs like Andreessen Horowitz and Abstract Ventures.
Despite its controversial past, Cluely has signed up a public company that doubled its annual contract with the startup to $2.5 million. The enterprise version of the product adds features such as team management and additional security settings, appealing to businesses for sales calls, customer support, and remote tutoring.
Customers find Cluely’s real-time notetaker feature particularly useful, allowing them to look back at notes during meetings. However, a competitor, Pickle, claims to have built an open-source product with similar functionality, which is being widely adopted by the developer community.
