CM Punk’s highly anticipated main event against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 41 is now confirmed for April 19. The announcement came on Friday’s “WWE SmackDown,” with the WWE Championship also set to be held on the Sunday show.
The news marked the culmination of Punk’s lifelong quest for a WrestleMania main event, considering his nine-year absence from professional wrestling after leaving WWE in 2014. During his stint with AEW, Punk had a successful run, capturing the World Championship twice and feuding with MJF.
However, Punk’s comments on “AEW Dynamite” have taken on a different tone over time. Initially, he aimed to get MJF into a match, but their feud took an unexpected turn after MJF stated that if he wasn’t shown respect in AEW, he might challenge for the main event at WrestleMania.
Punk fired back, making some comments about the annual event that have since aged poorly. He mentioned AEW’s decision to make WrestleMania a two-night event and implied that WWE would be more appealing if MJF left. Nevertheless, this remark is now largely seen as petty given that MJF chose to stay with AEW in 2024.
Despite this, Punk’s determination for the main event remains unwavering. His upcoming match against Reigns and Rollins has been met with excitement from fans, marking a satisfying end to his long-awaited return to WWE after a nine-year hiatus.
