CoComelon Moves to Disney+, Latest Netflix Loss

CoComelon, a popular animated preschool series, is set to join Disney+ in January 2027. The show, owned by Moonbug Entertainment and currently available on YouTube and Netflix, will become the latest addition to the Disney streaming platform. CoComelon has been a mainstay on Netflix since 2020 and was previously unavailable on Hulu.

The move comes after Netflix reportedly declined to renew the show due to a decline in viewership of nearly 60% between 2023 and 2024. Despite this, CoComelon remains one of the most popular channels on YouTube and has topped Netflix’s viewership ranks for several years.

CoComelon’s partnership with Disney is expected to expand its brand similar to how it did with the Australian import Bluey, which also joined the platform recently. The show’s move to Disney+ coincides with the release of a CoComelon movie by Universal in 2027.

In related news, Netflix has secured the streaming rights of Sesame Street, potentially signaling a shift in its preschool programming strategy.
