Cocomelon will leave Netflix after the streaming giant declined to renew its license, Variety has confirmed. The children’s nursery rhyme program was a consistent draw for young viewers but saw a significant decline in viewership – almost 60% from 2023 H1 to 2024 H2 – according to Nielsen. Despite this, Cocomelon remains one of Netflix’s most-watched programs.
Disney+ will gain the popular show with its addition to the lineup. The platform already boasts top three most-streamed shows for preschool kids, including Bluey and Spidey and His Amazing Friends. With Cocomelon’s arrival, Disney+ will have four out of the top 10 most streamed shows for kids aged two to five.
Cocomelon first gained popularity on YouTube, where it has amassed over 190 million subscribers and over 200 billion views. The show’s departure from Netflix follows recent changes at Moonbug Entertainment, including a workforce cut of around 5% in November.
