A fatal accident at Chile’s largest copper mine has raised questions about Codelco’s ability to meet its production targets. The incident, which resulted in one confirmed death and nine injuries, occurred at a new section of the El Teniente mine. President Gabriel Boric visited the scene on Monday. The collapse is similar to the 2010 rescue of 33 trapped miners in Chile. This comes as demand for copper grows and Codelco recently celebrated avoiding tariffs imposed by the US government.
