Cold Water Swimming Found to Boost Cellular Protection

Researchers at the University of Ottawa discovered that cold water swimming can quickly improve cellular protection, reducing stress response and potentially slowing down aging. In a study involving 10 healthy young male adults, daily cold water dips for an hour reduced signs of apoptosis (programmed cell death) and inflammation, while increasing autophagy, a healthy cell recycling process. The findings suggest that consistent cold exposure may help the body adapt to environmental stress and improve cellular protection, potentially preventing diseases and promoting longevity.
