A federal investigation into alleged game-fixing has placed multiple men’s college basketball programs under scrutiny. Games involving Eastern Michigan, North Carolina A&T, and Mississippi Valley State are being investigated, according to sources.
North Carolina A&T suspended three players for a “violation of team rules,” but coach Monte Ross denied any connection to the gambling probe. Sources indicate that at least one game involving A&T is being investigated due to suspicious wagering activity, including a January contest against Delaware.
Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan were also flagged by a betting integrity firm due to unusual wagering activity in their games. Mississippi Valley State has been named as a third school under investigation.
The investigation is ongoing, with seven or more schools potentially involved at both the federal and NCAA levels. Other players, including former NBA player Jontay Porter and current NBA player Terry Rozier, are also under investigation for allegedly manipulating game outcomes for gambling purposes.
The NCAA has stated that it takes sports betting seriously and works to protect student-athlete well-being and competition integrity. However, due to confidentiality rules, the association will not comment on ongoing investigations.
