ChargePoint and the Colorado Energy Office have completed six electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging corridors across the state, increasing the availability of major highway charging coverage. The project introduced 33 DC fast-charging sites with over 80 charging ports, enabling EV drivers to travel efficiently across Colorado.
The initiative was supported by $10 million in state funding and contributions exceeding $2 million from private and local government partners. As a result, nearly 80% of highway corridors now have a fast charger within 30 miles, up from 40% in 2019.
“This project is a testament to the leadership at a state level to accelerate charging network growth,” said Rick Wilmer, CEO at ChargePoint. “Public-private partnerships play a critical role in building out charging infrastructure, ensuring drivers can charge quickly and conveniently.”
The project aligns with Colorado’s plans to expand charging access through programs such as the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) initiative. Governor Jared Polis stated that Colorado is leading the nation in EV sales and making EV travel more affordable and convenient.
The new charging sites are strategically located along major highways, including Highway 40, I-70, Highway 50, and Highway 550. Drivers can locate these sites through ChargePoint’s mobile app or website. For a full list of new charging sites, visit the Colorado Energy Office’s website: EV Fast-Charging Corridors.
ChargePoint Holdings, Inc., is building a fueling network to power electric transportation, with one of the largest EV charging networks in North America and Europe.
