Colorado Man Dies from West Nile Virus

A Colorado man has died from complications related to the West Nile virus, according to local news reports. The victim’s death is the latest in a series of West Nile cases reported in the state.

West Nile virus is a mosquito-borne illness that can cause severe symptoms, including fever, headache, and muscle weakness. In severe cases, it can lead to neurological damage and death.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has been tracking the spread of West Nile virus in the state, reporting over 200 cases so far this year. The agency warns that the peak mosquito season is usually between June and September, making prevention measures crucial during these months.

Residents are advised to take precautions to avoid mosquito bites, such as using insect repellents and wearing protective clothing. The CDPHE also recommends installing window screens on homes and applying mosquito-killing pesticides around outdoor living spaces.

This latest death brings the total number of West Nile-related deaths in Colorado since 2018 to over 30. As the mosquito season continues, residents are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the virus.
