Colorado Reports First Confirmed Measles Case of 2023

A confirmed measles case has been reported in Colorado, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). The individual’s identity remains undisclosed for privacy reasons.

The CDPHE is urging all residents to remain vigilant and monitor their health closely. Measles is a highly contagious disease that can cause serious complications, particularly among vulnerable populations such as young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems.

Measles cases are typically reported in areas where vaccination rates are low or individuals have not received the recommended two doses of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine. The CDPHE is working to identify close contacts of the infected individual and provide them with guidance on how to prevent further transmission.

Residents who believe they may have been exposed to measles should contact their healthcare provider immediately for evaluation and testing.
