Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month Takes Center Stage

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and the Cancer Wellness Foundation’s Women in Blue campaign is highlighting this crucial cause. According to the foundation, colorectal cancer claims nearly 53,000 lives annually, making it a leading cause of cancer deaths.

Fortunately, screening can significantly reduce the risk of diagnosis and mortality rates. The American Cancer Society recommends that everyone over 45 undergo screening, especially for those with family histories. With more than one million cancer survivors in the US, awareness is key to prevention.

Twenty women from the River Region are joining forces to raise awareness and funds for cancer patients. WSFA Sports Director Rosie Langello is among them, wearing blue daily to support her campaign. Donate at cancerwellnessfoundation.org/women-in-blue/rosie-langello/ to help make a difference.
