Colts QB Anthony Richardson Sidelines Himself Due to Shoulder Injury

Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson will not participate in offseason practices or minicamp due to a right shoulder injury affecting his AC joint, coach Shane Steichen announced on Thursday. The injury is the same one that required surgery for Richardson last season.

While no immediate surgery is planned, Steichen stated that Richardson’s return is expected at some point during training camp, but a specific timeline has not been set. With Richardson sidelined, Daniel Jones will likely take more snaps and potentially gain an advantage over him in the competition to be the team’s starting quarterback for the 2025 season.

Richardson struggled with injuries last year, playing only four games due to health issues before a benching, and his poor performance in limited appearances made way for the competition with Jones. The fourth overall pick of the 2023 draft completed just 48% of his passes for 1,814 yards with eight touchdowns and 12 interceptions, leading the team to consider an open quarterback competition.
