Comcast Unveils New Board Members for Upcoming Spin-Off Versant Media Group

Comcast has announced eight new board members who will join the board of directors of Versant Media Group, a newly formed media company that will house the bulk of NBCUniversal’s cable networks and digital businesses. The spin-off is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

The new board members include David Novak, former CEO of Yum! Brands; Rebecca Campbell, former chairman of international content and operations at Walt Disney Company; Creighton Condon, counsel at global law firm A&O Shearman; Michael Conway, former CEO of Starbucks North America; David Eun, former president of Samsung Electronics; Gerald L. Hassell, former chairman and CEO of Bank of New York Mellon; Scott Mahoney, chairman and CEO of Peter Millar; and Maritza Montiel, former deputy CEO of Deloitte’s U.S. business.

Versant Media Group will be a publicly traded company with a diverse portfolio of media assets, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, Syfy, Golf Channel, Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, and SportsEngine. The company is expected to generate around $7 billion in revenue annually.

Comcast CEO Brian Roberts will own one-third of the voting interests in Versant Media Group, but he will not serve on the board or management team. The new board members will bring a range of expertise and experience to the company, including leadership roles in media, technology, finance, and more.

The appointment of the new board members marks an important milestone for Versant Media Group as it prepares to become an independent media company. CEO Mark Lazarus said that he looks forward to working with the distinguished group to establish a leading independent media company.
