Comedian Reginald “Reggie” Carroll, a Baltimore-based comedian, has died after being shot in Mississippi. He was 52. According to police, officers responded to a shooting at Burton Lane on August 20 and found Carroll with gunshot wounds. Despite medical efforts at Regional One Health hospital, Carroll succumbed to his injuries.
The Southaven Police Department has charged one man with Carroll’s murder. An investigation is ongoing, but early reports suggested the incident was isolated. The comedy community paid tribute to Carroll, calling him an “OG” and expressing sadness over his loss.
Carroll toured extensively, performing at clubs across the country, including with actress Mo’Nique, who described their time together as “amazing”. He appeared in several TV shows and live variety series, including Showtime at the Apollo and The Parkers. Carroll also produced and starred in a 2023 standup special, Knockout Kings of Comedy.
A post from Club Mobtown Comedy read: “Rest in power @comedianreggiecarroll, thank you for being one of the OGs who supported us early on. Our prayers are with Reggie’s family.”
