Comedy legend Paul Rodriguez was arrested on Friday night in Burbank on a drug charge, according to police. The 70-year-old comedian was a passenger in a car stopped for vehicle code violations when narcotics were discovered during the investigation. He was booked at the Burbank Police Jail and released with a citation to appear in court on April 25.
Rodriguez claimed he was asleep in the passenger seat when pulled over, stating that a Caucasian officer was “on a power trip” and slapped him awake. The comedian, who got his start in the industry as a doorman at The Comedy Club in Hollywood, has appeared in numerous TV shows and films, including “Gloria,” “El Show de Paul Rodriguez,” and “Blood Work.”
Rodriguez’s son, also named Paul, is a professional skateboarder who won eight medals at the X Games between 2003 and 2013.
