The Washington Commanders have strengthened their offense by acquiring Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil from the Houston Texans. The trade, which was confirmed by sources, sees Washington sending four picks to Houston: a third-round pick in 2025 and second- and fourth-round picks in 2026. In return, they will receive a fourth-round pick this spring.
The move comes after the Commanders had expressed interest in signing Ronnie Stanley before he re-signed with the Baltimore Ravens. With Tunsil on board, Brandon Coleman, who started 15 games at left tackle last season, can shift to right tackle or guard.
Tunsil, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, is considered Washington’s most accomplished offensive lineman. He has signed a three-year extension worth up to $75 million and still has two years remaining on his contract. The move aims to improve the team’s protection of quarterback Jayden Daniels and enhance their run blocking.
This marks Tunsil’s second stint in the NFL, having previously been traded by the Miami Dolphins to Houston. He ranks 10th among offensive tackles in pass block win rate from last season.
