Commanders’ Preseason Performance Leaves Dan Quinn Concerned

The Washington Commanders’ preseason games have left coach Dan Quinn concerned about the team’s performance. While training camp is over, preparation for the upcoming season is now underway.

On a positive note, the Commanders came out of their last two preseason games relatively healthy, with some players who had been banged up recently returning. Here are the standout and struggling performers from their latest game against the Ravens:

Standout Players:
Chris Rodriguez was impressive, showcasing his vision and burst that led to 34 yards on five carries.
Jordan Magee recorded four tackles, including three solo efforts, highlighting his run-and-hit linebacker skills.
Luke McCaffrey made the most of his targets, catching all five for 23 yards and making a tackle on special teams.
Ale Kaho continued to make plays with seven tackles, six of which were solo, demonstrating his athleticism and tackling ability.
Tyler Owens had several nice plays, including a tackle-for-loss and pass defended.

Struggling Players:
Sam Hartman’s poor performance was evident, with zero zip on his passes, poor accuracy, and zero pocket awareness.
Matt Gay’s kicking woes continued, with Matt Gay struggling to find accuracy and range.
K.J. Osborn made drops that could impact his roster spot in a crowded field.

Notes:

* Colson Yankoff had a 52-yard catch-and-run but also missed a block on fourth down.
* Sheldon Day is outplaying Eddie Goldman.
* Josh Johnson may not be as bad as Sam Hartman, but he’s clearly not good.
* Tim McKay might need to go to the practice squad due to his limited performance.
* Vigers continues to show moments but makes rookie mistakes.
