Community Rallies Around Long Island Duck Farm After Bird Flu Outbreak

A community fundraiser at North Fork Brewing Company hopes to save a Long Island tradition, Crescent Duck Farm, which was forced to euthanize its entire flock of 99,000 birds due to a bird flu outbreak. The farm has been in operation since 1908 and employs many local residents. Brewery owner Peter Barraud contributed $20,000 to support the laid-off employees, who will receive grocery store gift cards. Farm owner Doug Corwin is hopeful about the future of the flock, with plans to hatch and raise a new batch of ducklings.
