Conor McGregor, the UFC fighter, is facing a new civil lawsuit filed by a 49-year-old Wall Street vice president. The woman alleges that McGregor sexually assaulted her in a bathroom at the Kaseya Center in Miami after Game 4 of the NBA finals on June 9, 2023.
According to the lawsuit, arena staff served McGregor alcohol despite him being visibly intoxicated, and he led the woman into a restroom stall where she was allegedly assaulted. The plaintiff claims that McGregor’s actions resulted in her suffering battery, while the Kaseya Center is accused of gross negligence for failing to ensure a safe environment.
The suit seeks damages exceeding $75,000, medical expenses, and other relief. This incident follows an earlier report to Miami police on June 11, 2023, but the Florida state attorney’s office declined to pursue criminal charges in October 2023. McGregor has denied the allegations, calling them a “shakedown.”
The lawsuit also highlights another incident that night when McGregor punched the Miami Heat mascot, Burnie, resulting in his hospitalization. Despite this, arena staff allegedly continued serving McGregor alcohol.
McGregor’s attorney, Barbara Llanes, stated that the new lawsuit is false and will likely be dismissed. However, the plaintiff’s attorney, Jim Dunn, says their goal is to raise awareness about sexual assault and encourage others to report incidents like this one.
