Constellation Energy Wins $1 Billion in Contracts from GSA for Clean Power Supply

Constellation Energy has been awarded more than $1 billion in combined contracts by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to supply clean power to 13 government agencies and perform energy savings measures at five facilities. The company will provide services under a 10-year, $840 million contract, starting in 2025, and will supply over 1 million megawatt hours of power annually.

Under the agreement, Constellation’s nuclear fleet will continue to provide carbon-free energy, with the U.S. government joining Microsoft and other entities to support continued investment in reliable nuclear energy. The company expects to add approximately 1,100 MWs of clean energy by 2028, enough to power over one million homes.

The GSA has also awarded Constellation a $172 million Energy Savings Performance Contract for five facilities in the National Capital Region. The work will include LED lighting, weatherization, and new HVAC equipment to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions. Construction is set to begin this month and will last approximately 42 months.

Constellation’s CEO, Joe Dominguez, stated that the agreement demonstrates how the federal government can join major corporate clean energy buyers in spurring new nuclear energy capacity. The GSA Administrator, Robin Carnahan, added that the historic procurement locks in a cost-competitive, reliable supply of nuclear energy over a 10-year period, accelerating progress toward a carbon-free energy future.

The awarded projects include facilities owned or operated by the Architect of the Capitol, Social Security Administration, Army Corps of Engineers, and other agencies across Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
