The Trump administration is stepping up pressure on consulting firms as government agencies prepare to justify major contracts. The General Services Administration (GSA) has asked procurement officials to list and defend 10 companies, including Booz Allen, Accenture, and Guidehouse, over the looming deadline.
Consulting firms are being tasked with explaining which of their existing projects are “mission critical” to government goals and which could be cut. This move aims to ensure that taxpayers get value for their money from these lucrative contracts.
Major consulting firms, including Booz Allen and Accenture, have been affected by this scrutiny. William Blair downgraded Booz Allen to “Market Perform” from “Outperform”, citing uncertainty over the company’s defense services contract.
