Cooper Kupp Announces He’ll Be Traded by Rams Amid Contract Dispute

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp has revealed that he will be traded immediately after being informed by the team. In a statement posted to social media, Kupp expressed disagreement with the decision and stated that he always believed it would end in Los Angeles.

Kupp is seeking a new home where he can continue competing for championships, citing high motivation and good health as he prepares for next season. He had previously signed a three-year contract extension worth $80.1 million, but his guaranteed salary for the upcoming season is only $5 million.

The Rams have options to save or release Kupp this offseason, with potential cost savings ranging from $15 million in cash to $22.2 million in dead money. Kupp has spent eight seasons with the team and holds numerous records, including leading the NFL in receptions and receiving yards in 2021.

His departure comes as the Rams have increasingly relied on younger receiver Puka Nacua in the passing game, making it unlikely that Kupp would remain on his current contract. Despite this, Kupp remains committed to competing for championships in the next season.
