Copa del Rey semi-finals took a dramatic turn as Barcelona and Atlético Madrid fought back from two goals down to secure a 4-4 draw in the first leg at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. The visitors, led by Antoine Griezmann’s early goal, built an initial lead of two before Pedri and Pau Cubarsí levelled the score.
Barcelona responded with goals from Iñigo Martínez and Robert Lewandowski, but Atlético Madrid stayed in contention through Marcos Llorente’s equaliser. The visitors pulled ahead once more as Alexander Sørloth scored a late equaliser, sending the match to extra time.
The second leg will take place at Atlético Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium in April, with the winner advancing to face Real Madrid or Real Sociedad. Inter Milan also secured a spot in the Coppa Italia semi-finals after defeating Lazio 2-0, with Marko Arnautovic scoring a stunning goal before Hakan Calhanoglu sealed the win.
In other news, Juventus will host Empoli on Wednesday for the DFB Pokal semi-final, while Arminia Bielefeld stunned Werder Bremen in a 2-1 victory to reach the quarter-finals.
