Corporate Sponsors Pull Out from Stonewall Columbus Pride Amid National Backlash

The Trump administration’s crackdown on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) practices has led several major corporate sponsors to pull out of supporting Stonewall Columbus’ pride events this year. Companies like Anheuser-Busch, Lowe’s, Nissan, and Walmart have backed out due to pressure from conservative groups and activists.

Stonewall Columbus lost around $125,000 in donations as a result of the sponsor pullouts, but the organization is not expecting any direct impact on its 2025 pride events. Instead, local businesses and partners have stepped up to bridge the financial gap.

“We are sorry to see them go,” said Densil Porteous, Stonewall Columbus Executive Director. “But we are thankful for those partners who continue to support us.”

The organization’s annual sponsorship list has not been released yet. The Trump administration’s efforts to crack down on DEI practices have resulted in several companies dialing back their initiatives.

Stonewall Columbus operates as a community center, relying on donations to stay afloat. The decision comes amid a nationwide trend of companies being pressured to end DEI and pro-LGBTQ+ practices.

Despite the pullouts, Walmart has stated its commitment to creating an inclusive environment for associates and customers. Nissan is reviewing its marketing and sales spending to maximize efficiency. Lowe’s declined comment at press time.
