General Motors’ engineers put their latest creation, the eighth-generation Corvette ZR1, to the ultimate test at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. With 1,064 horsepower and a top speed of 233 mph, the car exceeded expectations.
The Circuit of the Americas, a Formula One track since 2012, provided the perfect testing ground for the ZR1’s handling and downforce. The car’s massive rear wing generates over 1,200 pounds of downforce, significantly improving grip but increasing aerodynamic drag.
To test the ZR1’s capabilities, General Motors brought two versions to the track: a base model with a smaller spoiler and a ZTK trim equipped with a carbon fiber Aero Package. While the ZTK trim offers increased downforce, it comes at the cost of reduced top speed. The results? A thrilling experience for drivers who know how to push the limits of this powerful Corvette.
