Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who played America’s son Theo Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” has died at 54 after a drowning incident in Costa Rica. According to the Red Cross, medical responders also tended to another man involved in the same incident, and he survived.
Warner was found unresponsive with no vital signs by first responders in Cahuita, Limón, on Sunday. CPR was attempted, but he was declared deceased at the scene. A water current had pulled two men out of the water before paramedics arrived.
The Red Cross confirmed this information, stating that medical personnel performed CPR on both Warner and another man who survived. The incident occurred during a family vacation in Costa Rica.
Warner’s death has sparked tributes from his peers, including Morris Chestnut, Tracee Ellis Ross, Viola Davis, and Niecy Nash, as well as Beyoncé. A tribute on her website honors the actor, remembering him as “America’s son.”
