Costco Workers Authorize US-Wide Strike Over Contract Disputes

Costco Wholesale’s Teamsters union has voted 85% in favor of a nationwide strike, as the two parties enter a final round of talks ahead of a January 31 deadline. The union represents over 18,000 workers at the retailer and claims that Costco’s failure to bargain constructively led to the vote.

The master agreement between the companies expires on January 31, prompting negotiations for a new contract. The union stated that it will begin its final week of talks on January 20.

A strike would affect Costco’s operations across the US, with no immediate comment from the company available outside regular business hours.
