Country Artist’s Car Accident Claims Life of Local Woman

A 77-year-old woman, Dorothy “Dot” Dobbins, was killed Sunday evening while crossing a marked crosswalk in Germantown, Tennessee. Conner Smith, a 24-year-old country artist who performed at the CMA Fest, was driving his Chevrolet Silverado and failed to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk. The area is known for dog owners taking their pets to nearby parks.

Dobbins was a respected member of her community, serving on the Nashville Bar Association’s board and working with the YWCA to raise awareness about domestic violence. The investigation is ongoing, but police have found no signs of impairment in Smith, who has released a statement offering condolences to Dobbins’ family. No charges have been filed at this time.
