Country singer Conner Smith, 24, was involved in a fatal car accident in Nashville on Sunday. According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Smith’s Chevrolet Silverado struck and killed Dorothy Dobbins, 77, who was walking in a crosswalk. The police department stated that Smith failed to yield the right of way to the pedestrian as the preliminary contributing factor for the crash.
Dobbins was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she later died. At this time, Smith had not been charged with any offense. In a statement, Smith’s attorney confirmed the singer was involved in the accident and expressed his condolences to Dobbins’ family. The investigation is ongoing, but Smith is cooperating fully.
Smith gained fame in 2021 after his song “I Hate Alabama” went viral on TikTok. He has since released four songs to country radio, including the Top 20 hit “Creek Will Rise”.
