Couple Detained After Forcing Way Onto Plane at Miami Airport

A couple was detained at Miami International Airport on Sunday after attempting to force their way onto a flight to Mexico. Rafael Seirafe-Novaes and Beatriz Rapoport De Campos Maia were charged with battery, trespassing, and resisting an officer without violence.

The couple missed their Cancun-bound flight due to lateness and tried to board the plane anyway. An altercation ensued with American Airlines staff, resulting in one of the suspects throwing coffee at an employee’s face. Six deputies responded to the incident, which was captured on footage showing multiple police vehicles near the tarmac shortly before takeoff.

American Airlines confirmed they would work closely with law enforcement to investigate the incidents. The couple’s actions were deemed unacceptable by the airline, and they faced severe consequences for their behavior.
