The Dallas Cowboys are considering Brian Schottenheimer as a potential in-house candidate for their head coaching position. According to NFL Network’s Jane Slater, the team announced the completion of an interview with Schottenheimer on Tuesday night. This marks the fourth interview for the job, joining Seahawks assistant head coach Leslie Frazier, Eagles OC Kellen Moore, and former Jets head coach Robert Saleh.
Brian Schottenheimer, 51, has extensive coaching experience, having worked as a quarterback coach or offensive coordinator for seven organizations since his first NFL gig in 2001. His most recent role was as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator for two seasons. A son of Marty Schottenheimer, Brian has never been a head coach but is seen as a potential candidate to continue Dak Prescott’s success after Mike McCarthy’s exit.
The Cowboys are looking for a coach who can provide continuity with their current offense and quarterback. Schottenheimer’s interview is the latest development in a search process that aims to find a suitable replacement for Mike McCarthy, who left the team after the 2022 season.
