A recent surge in cruise ship illnesses has left hundreds of passengers and crew members feeling unwell. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there have been five separate outbreaks of gastrointestinal illness reported on cruise ships this month, marking the largest number of outbreaks since 2012. The CDC states that a total of 16 outbreaks are currently being tracked, with many more expected as investigations continue.
