Cryptocurrency Prediction Market Surges on Jesus Christ Return Speculation

A cryptocurrency-based prediction market has seen a significant surge in betting on Jesus Christ’s return by 31 December 2026, with over $29 million wagered on the outcome.

Polymarket is a platform where users can place real-money wagers on almost any event, and its predictions have become a genuine barometer of public attention. This year, its predictions on the US election proved uncannily accurate, drawing serious attention from economists and political scientists.

The market that has gained attention recently is “Will Jesus Christ return before 2027?” The resolution will be determined by a consensus of credible sources, but most participants treat it as a novelty. However, the twist is that the “Yes” trade has outperformed Bitcoin this year, with its value falling by 46% and declining significantly since January.

The Jesus contract started the year priced at 1.8 cents on the “Yes” side, implying less than a 2% probability of the Second Coming. However, by early February, that figure had doubled to 4%, meaning the “Yes” trade had gained over 120% in a month. This unexpected turn of events has led many to wonder if the speculation is genuinely driven by a chance of Jesus Christ’s return or just a novelty.
